Puppy Information

Each Toller puppy that I have received has brought so much joy and happiness into my life. It is my goal that each bundle of sunshine that comes into the world through any of my dogs is given that perfect home where it may thrive and be loved, as well as give love.

Avonlea Tollers is committed to producing excellent Tollers, that have the ability to excel in any activity including agility, conformation, obedience, flyball, rally, field work, and many other things.

Each litter is produced from healthy parents, with sound genetic backgrounds. Each parent will be certified in hereditary diseases such as
  • Michigan State Thyroid Panel tested normal
  • OFA hip certified clear of hip dysplasia
  • CERF certified clear of hereditary eye disease
  • OptiGen DNA tested to determine PRA status
  • Temperament and conformation, according to breed standard.

Since we are a new and small kennel, with currently only one breeding bitch, puppy reservations are recommended. To help me learn more about you, and if an Avonlea Toller is appropriate for your family, please fill out my puppy questionnaire and email or snail-mail it back to me.

Avonlea puppies will be sold with non-breeding agreements, these being legal contracts that state that the dog may not be bred until it passes all necessary health clearances. The dog must also fit the breed standard. If the buyer is not interested in showing or breeding the puppy, I ask that they have the dog spayed or neutered at an appropriate age.

Once put on the reservation list, you will be informed when the bitch is confirmed pregnant. A $100 deposit will be due at this time. If all does not work out -- examples being the right puppy is not in this litter, or your family is unable to receive a Toller at the given time -- your deposit will be refunded.

Families receiving a puppy will be contacted within 24 hours of birth, at which time I might know if your perfect puppy is in this litter. Puppies will be cared for and raised in my home, and will be evaluated by an experienced breeder other than myself.  The puppies will be "puppy tested" at 6 and 8 weeks, and at that point their homes will be decided. The puppies will be examined by veterinarians at appropriate times, and given their first vaccines. If necessary the puppies will be dewormed.  All puppies will be microchipped.

Avonlea Toller litters will be registered with the American Kennel Club. At Avonlea Tollers, I abide by the guidelines set out by the AKC and NSCTRC-USA.

Puppies must be paid for in full before leaving Avonlea, and may be shipped anywhere  world- wide at your cost.  A sales contract, health certificate, veterinary record, registration information, and a written health guarantee (against the hereditary diseases [listed previously] the parents were screened for) will accompany your puppy.

If you have further questions please don't hesitate to write, call or email.
